Let that Shit KNOCK

It is on boys and girls. I've been drowning in new music and I'm back from the depths with a treasure chest full of giant beats and the heaviest of bass. I apologize for the absence but I hope this makes up for it.

First up I want to talk about Circus Records's Flux Pavilion. I talked about him a bit ago saying I was going to give him a proper listen once I found some time. Well I found some time and let me tell you, this dude is ill. Though he may look a little goofy, dude has some crazy good vision for dub songs. Normalize is just plain brilliant, drivey, catchy, and fun as hell to listen to without losing it's grime. His more recent Got 2 Know is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Not only that, but his song with Datsik, another gifted dub-step dj, is just top notch. Really just destroys your head with some rhythmic, heavy, heavy bass. Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about him. Check out the tracks I mentioned and I'll even throw in my favorite Datsik track, working with Excision, just for you. Because I care.

Next up we have some tracks I picked up from a blog favorite, Atlanta's finest Le Castle Vania. Mnuel did a wonderful little post about him right before we saw his show here in Portland at the Whiskey Bar. He put on one of the most phenomenal shows I've seen here and Portland and if he's in your area I strongly suggest you get messed up and check it out. Super chill guy and one of the better dj's on the scene in the U.S. His remix of La Roux's In For The Kill is gracious and the remix collaboration he does with previously mentioned Computer Club, awesome L.A. Dj, and Atlanta's Rrrump is heavy and obviously helped by the underlying Designer Drugs track. Your ears will thank you.

La Roux - In For The Kill (Le Castle Vania Remix) (320kbps)
Designer Drugs - Back Up In This (Le Castle Vania, Computer Club and Rrrump remix) (320 kbps) (Removed)♥

I picked up some tracks from Marine Parade's Marty Party. I'm impressed. Really great dub. I'm going to check him out further but here's a remix of The XX and an original to wet your appetite. Looks like he'll be working with Josh Mayer (Not John Mayer), better known as Glitch Mob's Ooah, to create PANTyRAiD. More on that to come.

The XX - Infinity (Marty Party Remix) (128 kbps)♥(Removed)
Marty Party - Shorty (192 kbps) (Removed)

Last up, for those of you who think the previous just wasn't quite cuttin' it on the filthiness, then these tracks should make you feel dirty enough to want a chemical bath. The dutch dj's Noisia are bringing it down and they aren't leaving till the building is decimated. Just tune in and you'll hear what I'm talking about. The 16bit remix is extra grimy.

Noisia - B.R.U.L. (320 kbps)
Noisia - Machine Gun (16Bit Remix) (128 kbps)

Bonus:
Didn't want to waste your time with getting in too deep for these songs but they're all phenomenal. I especially wanted to post the Owl City Fireflies remix by MightyFools. Anyone who can trade that trash in and come out with not only a decent song but actually a damn great one deserves some big ups.

DiscoTech - She's Devestating (320kbps)
Cassette Kids - Lying Around (Sharam Jey Remix) (320 kbps) (Removed)
Soft Toy Emergency - Critical (Last Japan Remix)
Owl City - Fireflies (Mighty Fools Remix) (320kbps)

Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77

The Domino EP, Pt. 2 of the BBR's Spares of Romborama releases dropped today and like Pt. 1 no surprises but definite bangers. However, I would like to take this opportunity to express how stoked I am on Death Crew 77. Bob Rifo, with the help of some of his friends are tearing down the electronic music establishment by turning the once PLUR filled dance floors of night clubs and raves into full mosh pits. Thanks to projects like The BBR, Rifoki, and Death Crew, where there was once the Melbourne Shuffle and tectonic dancing there is now fist pumping, body slamming and head banging. Thank you Bob Rifo for being a savior to electro and as always I The Bloody Beetroots!

The Bloody Beetroots - Domino (Radio Edit) *Yes they're 320, Buy the EP to get the extended version

BONUS:

P.S. For those of you who live in the L.A. area, I hope your getting amped for BBR, Death Crew and Rifoki on April 24 at the Palladium in Hollywood.

Losing Streak and Nerd Secrets EP

Usually I go with cover art when promoting a new EP but this picture was too funny, "MICHELLE VOWS TO CRUSH HIM"! Plus the song Losing Streak is about cheating so there is some relevance.

Regardless, this new EP from LA producer Computer Club called Nerd Secrets is one of the sickest Electro releases coming out of the city of angels since Classixx dropped their phenom self titled EP last year. Computer Club style is hard to put a finger on as it sounds like an amalgam influences as varied as Nine Inch Nails, Boys Noise and Mr. Oizo.

The track Losing Streak is one of the best electropop songs of the year so far and if you like the song Why Wait feat. The Faint off Felix Cartal's new LP you are sure to dig this one. It features Frankmusik who is an English electropop giant who has done a few sick colabs, including the chilling track Wake Up with another LA favorite, Acid Girls. Check out the DJ edit of Losing Streak and if you like it make sure to pick the full Nerd Secrets EP that included the original edit and is out now. Enjoy!

BONUS: Yeah, McDonald's Colors!

Drop the Lime @ the Rotture!

It is almost here! Crooklyn's favorite son, Drop the Lime, is playing at Branx this Friday. Drop the Lime was one of first shows I ever saw in Portland and I saw him over Xmas at the Avalon in Hollywood with Designer Drugs, both were fucking epic, the latter more than the former slightly. Do not miss this show, Drop the Lime and the Trouble & Bass Crew from NYC are gonna be tearing the Rotture down with local support from Ryan Organ, Ben Tactic who's doing a set with LincolnUp and DJ Kellan who writes for FuckBadMusic.com, a super dank PDX based blog. Hope to see you all there. Check out Drop the Lime's stylo below.

Drop the Lime - Set Me Free (Harvard Bass Remix)

Fabio Lendrum - Trouble (Drop The Lime Remix)

Cutting Crew - Died in Your Arms (Drop the Lime Remix)

Crookers - Tee-Pee Theme Ft. Drop The Lime *Off Crookers new LP, one of my favorite tracks.

BONUS: The Drop the Lime show with Designer Drugs I saw when I was down in L.A. over Xmas break was so sick that I couldn't resist throwing up some love to Designer Drugs. Designer Drugs is gonna do a show in SeaTown on 4/24, I definitely recommend making the drive if you live ANYWHERE in the Northwest.

Designer Drugs - FUCK YEAH!!!

Jupiter One - Countdown (Designer Drugs Remix) *No joke, one of my favorite remixes ever

The Night Calls for Kavinsky

It has been three years since Kavinsky released the 1986 EP and gave us a taste of his unique sound with tracks like Grand Canyon and Wayfarer. Now we stand only days away from the release of his third EP with record label Record Makers. The EP is titled Nightcall and it comes out March 15.

The track Nightcall itself is produced by no other than Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and mixed by SebastiAN. Vocals come from Lovefoxxx from CSS. Maybe not so much of a headbanger, this song is still solid and I look forward to hearing other artists remix it.

Kavinsky-Nightcall (320kbps)

Kavinsky-Nightcall (Breakbot Remix) (192kbps)

Pacific Coast Highway is produced entirely by Kavinsky, this of course is obvious as soon as you hear the track.

Kavinsky-Pacific Coast Highway (192kbps)

Don't miss checking out this release.
