Portland's Hardest: Drivepilot

We all here at TCHNCRCY Music are thrilled to post on a sick producer from Portland, Oregon; we have grown fond of the city and love to see the quality of its music scene improving and it moving in the right direction (if you are from Portland or have visited you might have noticed that there is talent indeed, but some trends survive for too long and become engraved in the social-fabric sort of ruining it for everyone else who for example doesn't really feel like listening to beat-poets go on masturbatory rants about their awkward first sexual experience before a metal band). But just when you start losing hope there is always that little ray of sunshine that makes everything OK; and this time there is a fucking supernova obliterating the shit out of your hopelessness. Portlanders be proud, here is Drivepilot.

This talented artist started remixing names such as Daft Punk, Peaches, F.O.O.L., Huoratron and Fuckkk Offf not too long ago in early 2009 and we are surprised it took us this long to bring him to your attention. Recently he did a filthy remix for F.O.O.L's Berserkergang EP, which shines with his own hard electro style and makes great use of that filthy synth we all, Bloody Beetroots fans, like so much:

F.O.O.L - Berserkergang (ft. A Girl And A Gun) (Drivepilot Remix) by DRIVEPILOT

Drivepilot is also the co-founder of Traction Records, a fairly new label also from Portland, through which he put out his banging Savages EP (2010). We will keep an eye on this label to let you know about coming releases (if Drivepilot's EP is any indication of the quality they intend to maintain with their releases rest assure this Oregonian label will be able to stand its ground against its counterparts around the world).

The Savages EP is to date the best release of this young Record Label from Portland, OR (ahem..they have only two releases, but still). I would highly recommend heading over to his soundcloud page to preview the entire thing, but in case you are skeptical of our opinion (asshole) below you will find three of our favorite tracks. Savages Pt. 1 and Savages Pt. 2 are both huge tracks. If you are a fan of distortion, heavy bass, both together, electro and used to (or do still) have a thing for metal, these tracks will definitely make you want to break some bricks with your head. And of course we cannot mention this EP without recommending Mega Shark. What does it sound like? oddly enough the title of the track describes it fairly well: it is a huge killer track that seems to have an appetite to devour all those that can't "stay put" when good hard-electro is playing. Do yourself a favor and press play:

Drivepilot - Savages pt.1 (Original Mix) by DRIVEPILOT

Drivepilot - Savages pt.2 (Original Mix) by DRIVEPILOT

Drivepilot - Mega Shark (Original Mix) by DRIVEPILOT

If you agree with us and think that EP was sick, be prepared because the future of this producer is looking brighter and brighter. Go to his Soundcloud page to check out a bunch of unreleased tracks that are pure punishment.

Do NOT miss the track below, FUCK YEAH! it is hard, and really shows the metal influences this guy has in his background, as well as a tiny tiny bit of 8bit (maybe I am just hearing that part though). Listen to it and make up your own mind:

Drivepilot - FUCK YEAH! (Original Mix) by DRIVEPILOT

And finally I leave you with what will be one of Traction Records upcoming releases. Devils From Milan is a bit slower than the sick tracks above but still a great composition. The bass in this one (at the beginning at least) makes me want to say we are listening to a Justice fan:

Mini Update: Boys Noize New Previews

So for those of you who have been addicted to Boys Noize for as long as we have been here at TCHNCRCY, you should be pumped about the two brand new previews the man himself, Alex Ridha, has provided on his brand spankin' new soundcloud. Boys Noize stays at one of my top spots for all time great producers and the work to come sounds legendary. "1010" sounds like what you'd expect from the guy who produced the unforgettable "Sweet Light" and "Yeah" sounds like another epic track that builds for days. Check them out below and get excited.

Boys Noize "1010" Preview by Boys Noize
Boys Noize "YEAH" Preview by Boys Noize

And for those of you that just can't wait on new Boys Noize, go on over to Beatport and check out the new Chilly Gonzales record "Ivory Tower" that just dropped on Boysnoize Records, produced by the label's founder. It's been getting a bunch of play over the blogs for good reason.

TCHNCRCY Ten Tracks Pt. 1

So this is my attempt to create some kind of running post for every week or so. For those of you that have been following us, then you've noticed that I post 10 tracks about roughly every week containing my favorite songs that you might not have picked up throughout the past week. If you don't follow, then the general idea is that I'm gonna drop ten tracks for ya'll, give them a brief description, and point out the ones you should definitely pick up if you're too busy for some reason, like the your first child is being born. The hope is that we'll spread the music we don't have time to go in-depth on but still like and that this will run consistently. I'm aiming to get it up every wednesday or tuesday, the powers that be willing. So check out the official first edition with ten songs that I've been digging on.

Tim Berg - Alcoholic (Dada Life Remix) (192 kbps)*****
-Heard a different remix of the track and loved the sample, not so much the beat and bass behind it...and then there was Dada Life.

Electrixx vs. Alex Mind - No Discussion (Original Mix) (320 kbps)*****
-Just a really dope song. Production is tight, sample is sick, and the bassline is hard.

Art vs. Science - Magic Fountain (Kissy Sell Out's Dark Crystal Version) (320 kbps)
-I love Kissy Sell Out and this shit hits harder than a motherfucker. Give it till 1:39 to judge.

Dayn - Rocking Alive (320 kbps)
-Heavy dub-step. Need I say more?

Les Rhythmes Digitales - Sometimes (Computer Club's Front Room Edit) (320 kbps)
-Melodic vocals with a crunchy as fuck bassline. Another reason to like Computer Club.

Boy Crisis - Fountain Of Youth (Louis La Roche 'In The Discoteque' Remix) (224 kbps)***
-Disco style summer jam. for those of us that enjoy blasting tunage with windows down on the waterfront.

Ali Love - Smoke Mirrors (FuntCase Remix) (320 kbps)
-Wait till the track breaks at 0:50 into a creepy as hell dub-track. For those of us that like to kick it in the back of the abr with the lights low.

Reset! - If We Try (Steed Lord Remix) (320 kbps)****
-I'm used to Steed Lord being remixed into epicness, but the team has switched it up. Real melodic song with great drops. Listen to it to see what I mean.

Robot Love - Give It to Stupid (192 kbps)
-A great banger despite it's affiliation with MTV's guido crew. There's enough distortion and bass to be forgiven.

ULTRNX - Rockstr (GhettosexXx Remix) (320 kbps)***
-Really well done track built with more drive than a tubro V8.

WET SHAKE Keeps it Dirty: Aerial-Infection

(Sick Video of WET SHAKE's 1st Anniversary Party)

So I've been digging more into the South Korean label Wetshake and the deeper I look, the better it gets. What I have for you now is yet another duo of producers with a taste for heavy dance beats, Aerial-Infection (DJ Mechro and DJ O). Unlike the aforementioned TheRiotz! (The pair of DJH@=ANee and DJ Palpitation), Aerial-Infection's songs tend to reach out for greater atmosphere with lighter synths and longer build ups. This isn't to say there isn't enough distortion to shake your windows out of their frames. Dudes keep it hard and they take it straight to your dome. I don't really need to prove my point, I mean one of the songs off their first EP is just called "Rough". I've got my favorites of their collection up for you guys to check out. Including "Rough", they did a killer remix of Wolfgang Gartner's "Latin Fever" that is unmissable (It was a finalist in the Latin Fever Remix Competition) and the strait banger also off their "EP.001" called "Whrer is My Money". All of them are great and if you like these tracks check out their soundcloud where you can get their other songs for free because they're just G'd up like that. Be sure to check back, as we'll be keeping a close watch for new hits coming out from Wet Shake.

Aerial-Infection - Rough*****

Wolfgang Gartner - Latin Fever (Aerial-Infection Remix)****

Aerial-Infection - Whrer is My Money***

Bonus:
Speaking of TheRiotz! and new hits, the boys just dropped an ill remix of the classic Tiga track "Mind Dimension". Check it out.

Miércoles Significa Más Música Para Ti!

Dancing Pigeons - Ritalin from Blink on Vimeo.

Came across this video and enjoyed it. Pretty awesome imagery and the track behind isn't that bad, courtesy of Cannes's own Dancing Pigeons.  But I'm here to share with you more than just some hillbillies shooting flaming fuel and fire retardant at one another. I've got another 10 tracks handpicked from the past two weeks to share with y'all. Some have been slept on, some have got some play, the main point is that this is music you should check out if you're down with TCHNCRCY style. All guaranteed to get your head bobbing and your body shaking.

Congorock - Babylon (Fare Soldi - Babbylorso Remix) (320 kbps)****
-And you thought you couldn't listen to this banger again? Listen to Fare Soldi's remix of this classic into an indie driven house track.

Kids in Space - Lose My Cool (ADVENTURE CLUB REMIX) (320 kbps)***
-Another awesome remix courtesy of New Zealand's ADVENTURE CLUB

Monarchy - Love Get Out Of My Way (Treasure Fingers remix) (320 kbps)
-TCHNCRCY favorites Treasure Fingers make mix up another great remix into gold.

NinjaSonik - Bars (Religion Remix) (320 kbps)
-L.A.'s Religion keep on popping up and NinjaSonik's rapping works in perfectly with Religion's heavy distortion.

Sidney Samson - Panorama (Original Mix) (320 kbps)***** (Removed)
-Dutch music maker Sidney Sampson's best song since the epic "Riverside". Definitely pick this up.

Sky Ferreira - One (Logistics Vocal Remix) (320 kbps) (Removed)
-"One" has been getting a lot of play around the blogs and remixed up a bunch. This is my favorite remix thanks to a great wobbly bassline and quick DnB drums .

High Rankin - Duncans Disco Dirtbox Disaster (320 kbps)*** (Removed)
-On of the United Kingdom's best has put it down in a huge way. Nice Break Beat mixed up with some heavy drops.

The Toxic Avenger - N'Importe Comment feat. Orelsan (Haezer Remix) (128 kbps)
-Tuffem UP!'s Haezer kills this remix of already an awesome song. Dirty.

Freestylers - Cracks feat. Belle Humble (Flux Pavillion Remix) (320 kbps) (Removed)
-Flux Pavillion remixed up a song that literally fills the room with massive Dub.

Don Diablo - Who's Your Daddy (TAI Remix) (192 kbps)
-Fidgety as fuck with an awesome squeaky synth. Thank you Tai!

Berserkergang EP Out This Week!

I told you I would keep you updated on F.O.O.L.'s upcoming EP and I am planning to stick to my word. The EP contains the original mix by F.O.O.L featuring vocals by A Girl & A Gun (you know that girl from Georgia, USA that somehow has been a part of sick tracks with producers like Belzebass, Gigi Barocco and Sawgood who have an appetite for her vocals), as well as remixes by Calis, Drivepilot, Beef Theater, Noize Generation and Owl Vision. This EP is dropping this Friday the 20th on Meet Me At Night Recordings, a growing label from Austria.

At the bottom of the post you will be able to preview the whole EP, which is an overall great compilation; however, I would like to first direct you to what many will agree is the best track on the EP. This is not the first time we mention Johaness Arnesson, AKA Owl Vision, on this blog and surely won't be the last. For three years now this Swedish producer has been making our skulls hurt (sampler and drum machine in hand) with his personal take on Death Electro. Check out one of his best remixes so far, one that he is sharing with us before its official release date.

OK, now you can go ahead and listed to the full EP Teaser and wait for Friday to purchase it:

This time they bring you a bit closer to the mind of one Paris most talented DJ/Producer. In this bit DJ Mehdi talks about the evolution of his career (right about the beginning of Carte Blanche), as well as the democratization of music through the existence of more accessible and affordable technology and tools for producers.

More Things I Like From Italy: Kill Beat Records

***Monica Anna Maria Belucci, she is Italian so she counts too...no matter her age***

I almost can't believe the amount of talent coming out of Italy. There are so many well-made powerful tracks coming out of the peninsula it is at times a bit hard to keep up with them. But don't worry we do our homework so that you can get the much needed heads-up to be able to enjoy the tracks that make your weekends feel like weekends all year round. It is definitely time that we introduce you to Kill Beat Records (formerly Killatunes Records), and in case you were wondering, yes they are an Italian label with a line-up of artists with a thing for producing hard bangers. The talent in this label is already recognized and supported by our favorites Mustard Pimp, The Oddword, Cyberpunkers and many others. Check out the label's releases below and the talented artists that are a part of it:

NAIZEN

A duo from Milan.... can someone explain me how this keeps happening? Really, if someone knows the secret please share it. Naizen's sound brings to mind Mustard Pimp and Belzebass, so if you can enjoy their fast pace and hard basslines (with a bit of a different taste for vocal samples in Naizen's case) go ahead and check the tracks below. First you will find the minimix for their latest EP Criminal Minds (Kill Beat Records... don't ignore the Beatport link on the player) and some older huge tracks including a very sick Rage Against The Machine remix:

El Puerco

So one little piggy went to the market, some other piggies went about cooking a meal or some shit like that, but THIS little piggy said "Fuck you guys, I am gonna make sick music instead!" Do not be fooled by the apparent low number of hits on his myspace, El Puerco has an arsenal of releases on different labels that will make your speakers beg for mercy. His tracks are getting more and more attention on the web and have even made it to Mustard Pimp's Burn Paris Burn! Mixtape. Besides a sample of his Rudeboy EP released on the once called KillaTunes label, I am sharing some newer tracks that deserve a well-earned spot on your library.

Tezuma & Kint

It is hard to believe that these guys have had their first official release so recently (out August 11th). This brand new duo has some dark sounding shit, and finding a copy of their debut EP on our inbox was just terrific. Their sound has many qualities that show the peninsular origin of the tracks and puts them on the same level with their more experienced fellow Italian producers, but based on their sound I would guess (and this is only that, a guess, and I mean no disrespect by it) that one of them must be Russian. And I say this because of the presence of heavy, dark, distorted bassline sounds they infuse their tracks with, sounds that makes one think of Proxy and the school of sound he created in Russia with the likes of Marseille and other Mako Records artists. You will definitely notice this when you listen to Darkup, a track that blew me away and that has convinced me to put great hope on the future of these guys. Check out and purchase Kill Beat's latest release R.M.E (Ruin My Existence) by Tezuma & Kint.

We'll keep you posted on more releases from this label.

Revenge Is HERE!

Okay so this is officially my third post supporting this debut EP from The Mastertrons so I am going to keep it short and sweet because you all probably already know that I am absolutely crazy about this EP. The EP "Revenge Is Coming" is the debut release from the young duo from Verona, Italy and it features three original tracks and remixes from Marvul, Super Super, Venooms, Frag Maddin, Elecktroy and Modek. Mähtrasher Records has kindly provided us with two tracks off the new EP, my favorite original mix "Scorponok" and Super Super's super dope maximal house re-fix of the track "Megatron". Also, here's a little reminder from TCHNCRCY to keep your eye on Super Super who is going to be dropping their debut EP "Good On The Dancefloor" featuring a bangin' colab with Traktor Records headman aUtOdidDakT out on September 9th on Traktor. Big thanks to Mähtrasher/Traktor for these tracks and make sure you swing by beatport and grab the rest of "The Revenge Is Coming"(beatport link).

Aerotronic's OMGITM Supermix

Okay so good friends of the blog Aerotronic sent us their mix for Oh! My God It's Techno Music, UK based label, artist promoter and overpriced clothing company. Just kidding OMGITM, I mean your clothes are overpriced but still very cool and you should definitely buy some if you have the cash, want to support a tight label and look gangsta on the dancefloor at the same time. Enough about OMGITM though lets talk about the fantastic Belgium trio Aerotronic. They sent us this mix a week or maybe more ago and while the whole world blogged it we slept on it. Don't ask me why, this mix is currently the only CD in my car because it basically my top electro hits list for this and last month plus a bunch of unreleased exclusives all mixed together flawlessly. I definitely suggest you grab the full mix and listen to it all day and all night. If you think you are too cool for that then at least you have to check out Shinichi Osawa and more bangin Belgians, the Subs' new track "Bring Back That Noise" as well as Aerotronic's unreleased remix of Italians, The Boomzers unreleased track "WTF" on Aerotronic's soundcloud or below.

Tracklist:
01. Daft Punk - On/Off

Bonus- I seriously don't think I can wait for The Boomzers' DEBUT, DEBUT, DEBUT EP "WTF". If Aerotronic's mix is any indication, this EP is going to be seriously dope and with remixes by the likes of Ikki, Haezer, and Underhall as well as the original I can't foresee this being anything less than a MONSTER! In the meanwhile get you can get yourself acquainted with the fabulous Italian duo known as The Boomzers below or by heading over to their souncloud and myspace.

666 - Alarma (The Boomzers Remix)

Alex Metric's Radio One Set

I love England so much! I have only visited a few times before but I am still absolutely in love with the country, it's people and it's music scene. And even though I might not be a fan of the weather, the food, or the temperature of their beer; there is one thing in the United Kingdom that redeems all this and it is their radio. From the BBC to pirate radio I am consistently hearing some of the world's best DJs dropping new and exclusive stuff on the airwaves in Britain. While this might be business as usual for our European fans, it is completely foreign to us Yankees. In Los Angeles a city of over 10 Million with one of the largest electronic music scenes in the US if not the planet, it is a rare treat for DJ like Rusko or A-Trak to play a Hip-Hop set on LA's Power 106 FM. Beyond that the odds of hearing an electronic song on the radio that is not Prodigy or Daft Punk is pretty much 0. Each station plays the same 40 tracks all day long in an endless loop. "California Gurls" still probably plays 25 times a day on each a major station, Fuck me! And Pirate Radio, no chance. I guess our equivalent is College and Independent Radio like KCRW and KXLU which are probably the only US radio stations I could honestly recommend to anyone over the age of 14.
So thank you England for providing us with a model for how to get it done right on the radio, hopefully the influx of mp3 players into cars will force American Radio to change and play something that actually stimulates and enlightens as opposed to just churning out the same mind numbing shit, day after day.
In honor of British radio dominance I have UK producer/DJ phenom Alex Metric's set from BBC Radio One's Essential Mix this past Friday Night 8/12. In addition to playing a fantastic and very diverse set including new tracks from Louis La Roche, Primary 1, Diplo & Don Diablo, Fenech-Solar, and Metric himself; Alex M also dropped something very special, a new exclusive track from none other then French house legends Cassius. This new single is supposedly one track off a new EP which, knowing the legends Boombass and Zdar and the group of very talented musicians they call friends, this EP is not one to miss. Check out Alex Metrics awesome new mix and grab a set/radio rip (with voices, sorry) of Cassius' new track "I 3 U So" as well as Aeroplane's (who are sooooo on point right now) great new remix of Chromeo's new track "Don't Turn the Lights On".

I ♥ LA

Okay so this is a post where I essentially am going to brag about the amount of phenomenal music that is and has been thrown down this week in Los Angeles. Between last Saturday 8/7 and this Saturday 8/14 I will have seen some of my favorite artist on the mutha fucking planet. If you want some idea of the mayhem and lack of sleep that has accompanied this past week of ridiculousness please look at the lineup for Hard Summer. After that epic all nighter add the fact SonicC & Autoerotique played Dim Mak Tuesdays, Wolfgang Gartner, Harvard Bass, Skrillex and Valerna are playing Control tonight at the Avalon, then we have the Mad Decent/Diesel/Jelly Block Party Saturday afternoon with acts like Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing, Theophilus London, Maluca, Ninjasonik and more FO' FREE and then finally Party Smartie, KRFTKDS & Many more are playing this Saturday night. If that isn't enough debauchery and excitement for one week, then you NEED to tell me where you live, That right Ibiza  and Pukkelpop, I think you just got dominated.
So I officially had the time of my life at Hard Summer, great venue, AMAZING LINE-UP and surprisingly mature, cool and knowledgeable crowd which is always a plus considering the amount of tragedy that unfolded at electronic music events this summer. Hard is truly a one of a kind music festival that has transformed from an hip underground dance event, like the Justice show on NYE 2006/07 to world-class music festival. It seems like every event since their first has gotten progressively better (with the exception of Hard Summer 09, of course). This summers Hard festival was probably the best I have attended not only musically but just in terms of preparation and smoothness of the event, AKA you could actually get drinks in a reasonable time frame unlike other Hard events. I was thinking about how they could ever step-up this event as I was writing this post and then a Hard Presents email popped up in my inbox announcing the line-up to Hard Haunted Mansion 2010 and all I can say is WOW! Look to the left of the text, FUCK ME,  that is one of the best Hard Lineups period and includes essentially every world touring electro artist I love that didn't make it out to LA this summer including: Mr. Oizo, BBR, Crookers, SebastiAn, Fake Blood and so much more. This announcement caps off what already has and continues to be THE BEST WEEK FOR LA ELECTRONIC MUSIC I have ever had the privilege to be part of.
Don't Belive me, Check out some of these tracks below and see the glory that I witnessed live over the past 7 days. First up we have a new remix from Proxy of Congorock's killer Babylon, thanks to Technocolorkids for this set rip, sorry it is kinda a shitty set rip but trust me, I saw proxy drop this live at Hard Summer and it was pure destruction. Also, we got a couple tracks from Skream, all the hype form Hard Summer surrounded Soulwax (live), Digitalism, Tiga, Proxy, Erol Alkan and Major Lazer; and that is for very good reason, those fools absolutely killed it but one of my favorite sets of the day was Skream and Benga. Check out Skream's tracks WTF, like Cockney Thug but mo' gangsta, I think I lost my my voice from S(K)REAMING, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT?, at 6:00 in the afternoon! I was by myself because my friends are lazy and didn't show up till like 7:00, I don't think many people had heard the song before so the first time I screamed it everyone around me thought I was insane .

Skream - WTF *Gotta scream this one out loud in the car!
*WARNING ALL THESE TRACKS MIGHT BE TOO HUGE FOR YOU!

Yes, this is happening tonight. This could pretty much be my selection of my favorite American electro producers minus maybe SonicC, Squeak E Clean, KRFTKDS and Diplo all of which I have seen or will see in the past week! I mean there are alot more very tallented U.S. producer like the east coast and dubstep contingent of Hot Pink Delorian, Drop the Lime, NiT GriT, Bassnectar, Designer Drugs, AC Slater,  and many awesome others. All I am trying to say is that tonight is gonna be pretty huge and if you are anywhere near LA tonight you should most definitely head to Control at the Avalon. Here's some tracks.
Sorry their is no Wolfgang, but you should know Mr. Youngman (Wolfgang Gartner) that you are know my officially my favorite Rave/Tech/Prog House producer now that the Mau5 had a bitch-out and snitched on Rusko for smoking weed backstage at a show (hop over to their respective Twitters to see the whole saga unfold, go back to around July 17th). Sorry Joel (DeadMau5) I like your label and your music but I agree with Rusko, SNITCHES GET STITCHES. Esspecially if you rat on someone for smoking dope (harmless, never killed anyone) when a large part of your fame comes from kids that only like your music cause they have had a face full of Ecstasy (killed a 15 year old at EDC). Enough talk just tracks from some of tonights talent.

Clockwork - Airflow (Valerna Remix) *Thanks to Gotta Dance Dirty and Chemical Jump for this nugget.

Okay so KRFTKDS are playing tonight in East LA and I'm sorry that I can't make that show but Control is closer and I just can't miss that lineup. But tomorrow, after you all hit up the FREE, FREE, FREE Block Party by Mad Decent & Jelly I highly recommend you stay downtown at watch those KRAFTYKIDS present a show featuring Austrian sensations Party Smartie and others including: Blah Blah Blah, Fat Pockets,  Grand Thieves, Love Weapon and one other artist who's name I can't read because the event has the worst flyer ever. Whatever though, Saturday sounds like another very long and awesome day here in the City of Angels.
*Here's the scoop on the Downloads, the KRFTKDS orignial track is gonna be killed after 55 Downloads because they were already kind enough to give 100 copies away for free so if you slept then get it now before its gone forever. More Mustard Pimp Please

For over a week now I have been meaning to share some tracks with you (as usual in case you haven't already) but couldn't think of a "reason" to. However, after coming to my senses I realized that "they are fucking sick tracks" is a pretty good reason. Besides, how can you have enough Mustard Pimp posts? Having said that, here are some tracks Mustard Pimp put out since their outstanding release: Rock Paper Scissors EP. They are all under a month old and reflect the direction they are taking as well as their harder characterizing sound:

Designer Drugs - Riot (Mustard Pimp Remix) by mustard pimp

Fischerspooner - Infidels Of The World Unite (Mustard Pimp Remix) by mustard pimp

Bonus: A little trivia

With all the Crux Records releases posted on this blog it is worth mentioning that Mustard Pimp's debut single "Oh La La Satan" was released under the NY label back in 2008. Doesn't that make you want to follow Crux Records a little closer?
The French duo, Baron and eKa, come from very different backgrounds. Baron was a Dj that played acid and techno music, while eKa was a guitarist in a Metal band (check out the Mayhem t-shirt). This duo proved to be great and successful at combining the best of both worlds; the resulting sound was sought by many. We can see the moment at which theses two sides were perfectly matched in a track after which their second EP was named. Released all the way back in that remote and bizarre time that 2008 was, I cannot hype this track enough. Sorry if I am being redundant, but if you haven't, you MUST listen to Mustard Pimp's tribute to Slayer for which words like hard, banger, huge and massive seem to be too short:

Mustard Pimp-Raging Blood (320kbps)************(timeless, in my top 3 Mustard Pimp tracks for sure)

Oh yeah, the other three tracks on the Raging Blood EP (Idiot House Records) are close competitors to this one, so if you are not familiar with them and want some more new-old music check them out in Beatport.

New Bobermann Remix Out: Concertmate

Bob Rifo, as we all know the man behind the massive project Death Crew 77, finally made available his remix of Concertmate by Alan 1. The track, which reminds me of a pre-Romborama Bloody Beetroots, was released through Gomma a Germany based record label and it is a part of the compilation Gomma Dance Tracks E.P.3. In case you don't remember this song was featured in "Destroy", mixed by the Bloody Beetroots together with The Aston Shuffle. Here is a low quality version of the track, I highly recommend heading over to Beatport and purchasing the real deal.

Alan 1- Concertmate (Bobermann Remix)*********(Classic sound! get the full quality version!)

BONUS!

Who is Alan 1? A producer from Vatican City. Check out this short teaser video:

Rosso Corsa Records

Are you a fan of 80's sports cars and sexy girls? I'm talking about red Testarossas, maybe a Countach or two and platinum blonde South Beach hotties in high-waisted 80s bikinis. Well the boys over at Rosso Corsa Records do and so do I but if you don't, hopefully this post will help you long for the revival of 80s decadence as much as TCHNCRCY and Rosso Corsa do.

Rosso Corsa is a Record label founded by producers/songwriters/djs and good friends Lazerhawk and Miami Nights/Actraiser in 2009 (more on these two below). The label is named after the infamous red all Italian racing teams paint their cars. Meaning "Racing Red" Rosso Corsa is forever tied to Itatian sports racing culture, much how British racing green is synonymous with early Jaguars or Blue de France conjures up images of Peugeot 905s. To me Rosso Corsa is the only appropriate color for an Italian sports car, especially a Testarossa who's name means "Red Head" in Italian. Rosso Corsa Records states on their myspace that they are based Milano, Italy but due to the fact that the two founders Miami Nights/Actraiser and Lazerhawk are based in British Columbia, Canada and Austin, Texas respectively, I suspect that Milan is only listed as the base for Rossa Corsa out of respect for legendary Italian automakers Lamborghini and Ferrari (Which were founded and are still based near the Italian city of Milano in Sant'Agata Bolognese and Maranello respectively). That is conjecture though. What is not conjecture is that Rosso Corsa is a fresh new label that is releasing awesome new tunes that are perfect for driving way too fast and chilling out on the beach all at the same time. With a lineup of 12 talented producers including the likes of Lazerhawk, Miami Nights 1984, Actraiser, Mitch Murder, Flash Worx, 80s Stallone, Action Jackson, D/A/D, Mr. Vector, MPM, Twilight Racing and Palm /i\ Highway Chase; Rosso Corsa Records have something for everyone who misses the 80s at least a little bit, check them out!

Lazerhawk
Forget Surkin being the son of Kavinsky, Lazerhawk is definitely my pick for the bastard son of electro house legend Kavinsky. If you have no idea what I am talking about Surkin once jokingly stated in an interview that Kavinsky was his father (sorry I can't find a video of the interview, if you have a link plz post it in the comments section).
All jokes aside Co-Rosso Recs founder Lazerhawk has a style that is scarily reminiscent of the Kavinsky sound we all know and love. If you like Nightcall or the Teddy Boy EP and are looking for something slightly darker, than Lazerhawk is your answer. His debut LP "Redline" is also the debut release for Rosso Corsa Recs and it is an absolute banger, grab a little taste of "Redline" below and also check out Lazerhawks mix of L.A. based group and Binary Records artist LexiconDon. Don't forget to grab all of "Redline", Lazerhawks debut album, out now on iTunes

Lazerhawk - Overdrive
Lazerhawk - Dream Machine
LexiconDon - December Sunset (Lazerhawk Remix)
*All above tracks are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Miami Nights 1984/ActRaiser
Hailing from Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada this multitalented 28 year old producer is also a co-founder of Rosso Recs. Clearly running a record company is not enough of a challenge for this all around busy man who also has two music projects Miami Nights and ActRaiser. In his own words he describes his music projects "Miami Nights tries to embody the soft warm feeling of an 80s John Hughes film while capturing more of a dark soundtrack style like Tangerine Dream with his Actraiser persona." I'm not even sure I even know what that means but Miami Nights provides revamped epic 80s disco soundtracks that are way too cool for school. As well as having a undisclosed movie soundtrack in progress, Miami Nights recently released his debut LP "Early Summer" on Rosso Corsa, check it out a preview of the title track below and if you like grab the whole thing over at iTunes here. ActRaiser is M.N. 1984s slightly darker side and I love it! Check out his track "Resurrected Streets" which is spooky and very dope.
Early Summer by MIAMI NIGHTS 1984

ActRaiser - Resurrected Streets *Highly Recomended

Rosso Corsa
So after such a strong start for the young label, what is next for Rosso. Well, a The Rosso Corsa Compilation CD is coming soon and will include tracks from the whole RC family. Check out some tracks from other Rosso producer and get a little taste of what Rosso Corsa has in store for you.

Twilight Racing - Boost Control
Twilight Racing -Thrillgear
80s Stallone - Nighthawks
Futurecop! - Karate (Flashworx Remix)

Bonus - We have a track from the vaults for this post only because it matches this post so perfectly. A friend of my who went by the name of Kid a year ago produced this fun little track "In My Ferrari" last summer. Check it out, fits the post perfectly and if you like head over to iTunes and grab the remix of "In My Ferrari" and support a very cool indie label, SeaYou Recs, and a good friend of mine, Kid, and get a great track all at once.

Kid - In My Ferrari

If you don't know Kid he produced 8-Bit infused Disco-House and had releases on Kitsuné and SeaYou records and worked with 8-bit enthusiasts like Unicorn Kid. Unfortunately the musical project know as kid has been abandoned and Zach the mastermind behind Kid has moved on to a new Chillwave project called Tidal Wave. If you are in the mood for some great mellow music I definitely recommend you check him out.

Bonus Video - In case this post packed full of 80s love hasn't quenched your thirst for all things 80s, check out the video below by Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto. The video shows the date and location of every known nuclear detonation from 1945-1998 in chronological order. The video uses distinctly O.G. Atari graphics with 80s, almost Kraftwork like sounds. Check it out very cool and VERY POWERFUL video, the end alone that shows all nuclear blast areas simultaneously is fucking crazy, goodbye South-Western America.
